Hello I'm Sort of a newbie here, but I've recently got ahold of my second car which is a 00 Monte Carlos SS!! It has the regular 3.8 in it, but I was wondering what mods or customizations I can do to have it hit higher speeds because I plan to go to a lot of drags soon. With that being said I really want my car to top out at 150mph at the least. I'm looking into trans mods or turbocharging.

 

why do you need 150mph for drag racing? that car will never be fast enough in the 1/4 mile to trap 150mph! on another note this trans cant reliably hold 150mph. this trans is onlly made to make power in 1,2,3 gears not 4th. if you start making good power in 4th bye bye transmission (i learned this the hard way) so with that said max speed would be around 120-135mph depending on gear ratio.

only thing not mentioned in the link above is about the trans.... the 4t65e trans is a ticking time bomb when decent power is added.... they fail quite often, if you are modding close or past 300whp i suggest getting a built trans or at least having the money to have one built when your stock one fails....
