5.3 v8 monte carlo ss 2006

Welcome to the forum.
Congrats on your purchase of a 2006 SS. The first year the Monte had a V8 since 1989. Gotta give ya bonus points for thinking outside the box and going with the Summit racing muffler.
Of course with the louder exhaust, you'll have to upgrade your sound system. As if you needed an excuse.

i just recieved the mufflers in today!! its like christmas!! the part number is SUM-633222... I should have them on this weekend... i will put a sound clip on as soon as they are installed... they apear (looking at insides with a flashlight) to have 3 chambers. Not at all like a flowmaster chamber either. I went with the most expesive one of the 3 models they sale $33. The sales person on the phone told me that this was their loudest model and is actually louder and lower tone than flowmasters. how ever we will hear that once i get them on!! wish me luck........................

the turbo mufflers are a typical low cost muffler with three resonated pipes in them. I dont know exactly how to discribe it, but they are virtually just compressed together like a lid of a soup can and have no welding holding it together. The fully welded ones i got are welded together and the internals have three diffrent chambers to eliminate high pitch sound waves. I got the mufflers installed on friday and i love them, however i still have the resonator on. They are very very deep sounding and sound aggressive. You can definitally hear the car coming and it has a deep rumble like a big block while idel. I do think i am going to delete the resonator to make the car louder, but i am going to wait a few weeks to decide if i am. From experience i know that the mufflers get a little bit louder after a few weeks. This happens cause the rough edges inside the mufflers and welds round off and smooth out from the exhaust heat and presure. I have to redo the recording of the exhaust, it ended up sounding really distorded. i will have it up soon

What idiot designed that??? i hope they got fired for that idea!! lol.. well i can definitly see how fixing that with a constant straight pipe could easily add 10hp on a stock motor!!
