i am building a med.3.1L i am building to pull about 350 to 400 hp and maybe be down the road a super charger and nos the nos is going on frist the 350 to 400 hp is with out nos
i have a nos kit that is homemade i already have the nos set up on my other car which is a 67 chevy with 1700hp with nos

the trans is also getting a up grade with a level 1 shift kit

the super charger is coming from a man that builds pro charger to fit any car or truck

well 3.1 pistons out of a iron head motor will give ya 10:1 easy i dont think that they are forged tho
if i was to biuld a 350hp v6 i would go with a 3100 or even a 3400 block because of better oiling and roller cam and if you go with the 3400 with i would you can put 3500 heads and top end on it and they out flow a ported 3400 head almost stock
and the 3400 works the same way for pistons if you want the high compression get pistons from a 3.4 camaro

the block that i have is alloy this way i drop around 80 lbs. it is looking like i might have some made then out of a I-6 for a supra see if the close because the supra has a 3.0L but they can go to3.4L so that might be the way to go what you all think

oooo!! you got one of the aluminum blocks nice man they are real nice but a little on the expencive side 4 me but yeah they are thicker that the stock iron blocks so you may be able to bore it out .125 to get the 3.4 l but i think that .100 is enuf to put on the 3500 heads man that would be a wicked engine !

The stock transmission on the 3.1 won't carry the extra power much less with just adding a shift kit. Hell they wear out quick enough with the power they have already.

I would look into either getting the upgrade parts to an HD transmission, buy a used 4T65E-HD, or get a race transmission.

http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_p...&catid=105 - upgrade parts, but if memory serves, I think that you would have a 4T60E transmission which won't be compatible with this kit.

if you are biulding a auto trans i am guessing its a 4 spd right ?4T60E
then you may want to upgrade to the 4T65HD out of the S/C rides you would have a better trans not saing that the other ones are not good i know of this guy thatis puting 500 hp through a th125 3spd
B.T.W. what ride is this going in to ? 95-99 monte ?
