2004 Monte Carlo SS Instrument Cluster

Sledgehammer?? Just kidding - look at the top of the Forum home page, click Search, and type in your topic, something like "dismantling dashboard". Best of luck - welcome to the Forum. You'll get lots of good advice here.

There's a number of How-To's in the How To Section of the forum. Look in the 6th Generation sub-section for your 2004. I'm not 100% sure at the moment. But I do believe there is a thread that discusses instrument cluster removal.

Welcome to the MCF family. Angie and Taz both gave good advice, well except for the sledge hammer. If you don't find what you need there and even if you do it isn't a bad idea to have a factory mechanical and body service manual specific to your car. It gives details the Haynes and Chilton do not. I usually shop for them on Ebay.

- Take the driver side fuse panel cover off, remove screw
- remove lower driver side trim, I believe there are one or two screws there
- Open passenger side glove box, remove another screw
- Gently pop the ignition key cover plate (not the rubber piece, that stays, just the ring)
- Wiggle the entire piece, it has about 3-4 plastic clips that are snapped in and pop out. Take your TIME! If something does not feel right, stop and inspect.
First time I popped the dash apart was maybe a 15 minute process.... Now I could probably do it in 5. Just take your time.
OH and hey, since this is in the New Member forum....
