Not sure of the date but when we purchased our second set of tires they sold my wife a rear camber kit. About 5k later the rear tires were toast. They replaced thinking tires were defective and re-check align. Now this has been a re-ocurring problem ever since. Any advice or info would be great. Should the camber kit be taken off? Is this common. It is my wifes car and it gets to be a safety issue.

 

I would go to a different tire shop and ask for a guarantee or warranty for the problem

 

Welcome! I'm assuming the car is stock with no suspension or wheel modifications? In that case, there shouldn't be a reason to even have a camber kit. An alignment should be all you would need.

Not supper knowledgeable on suspension stuff. Can I remove the camber kit installed to revert back to factory. Not real interested in going back to where installed.

 

You should be able to, yes. Just need to revert back and get the appropriate factory parts that the tire shop replaced.

You can remove the camber kit yourself, but an alignment will be needed afterwords. If the tires wore out within 5k then either an alignment wasn't done initially or there are worn/bent parts in the rear suspension - something that should have been detected during installation of the camber kit and an alignment. Since the problem existed prior to the installation of the camber kit I'm thinking more along the lines of worn/bent parts. I would find a different shop and have the rear suspension inspected.

 

check your bushings on the rear and the trailing arms.

 

X2 to both of the above comments. I have heard of guys bending trailing arms. You'd think that would be an obvious one to notice if it was that. You sure they weren't just telling you that you needed a camber kit because of that just so they could make some extra money off of you? It's sad, but that's reality with some places. I agree with Mike, I'd have the rear suspension inspected by a good shop.
