Default 2003 Monte New Guy

Hey Everyone,
Im new to the forum. I purchased a 2003 Monte Carlo LS in 2003 brand new. I purchased a Monte as my father had one when I was growing up and I always loved it. In the first 30,000 miles, I had a few issues. My fuel pump died, a fan died and my compressor died. I had to buy all of these parts. Since then its been running well. The car currently has 116,000
miles on it. Ive always maintained it according to schedule. Ive always changed my oil at 3,000 miles, I had the transmission fluid changed and I am buying new tires this weekend. I also had an inspection where they checked all my hoses etc, all was fine. My question is how long can I realistically expect this Monte to last. Its a V6. Could I get 200,000 miles
out of it? I know its hard to say but any ideas would be welcome. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum! Like with any other car, yours will last for as long as you take care of it. The transmissions on our cars tends to go before the engine does, they are one of the weakest parts in the car. But these cars will last pass the 200,000 miles with the proper maintenance.

Welcome!

The 3400 will last 200,000+ miles, however it will more than likely need some gaskets replaced along the way. The 3400 is known for leaking head gaskets, and intake gaskets. If those start leaking coolant, and you replace them before it gets really bad, you will not have problems getting to 200,000 miles.

As mentioned before, the transmissions generally are not the greatest i'd say that after 150,000 miles you really are going to be at a high risk of the tranny starting to show its age/ mileage. Once it starts acting up, if you rebuild it, you will get many more miles out of the car.

Yes, and as a new person it is your duty to put up pictures of your car so we may pay you compliments. I hope to see some pictures soon. Also, welcome aboard!
