Hi all,
I just bought a 2003 Monte Carlo LS and I need to see if anyone can help me determine if this vehicle has ABS and Traction control as standard. Also, is Keyless entry standard? I did not have remotes with it and the owner said he was not sure. It does have "Option #1 package, that, I have determined so far.
I have the Service Parts ID sheet from inside the trunk lid and was able to find some of the codes, but many of them were not found on the list.
Any help would be welcome.

Hi, mine has it standard, 2003 LS. I have a key fob, is that what you mean? I use that to unlock/lock the car, never used a key. I love the car, had to replace the intake gaskets when I bought it in '08 with 40,000 miles on it, and two months ago again, as well as the head gaskets, but other than that, it is a gem! I don't want to get another car, I love this Monte! Good luck with her, I run Z-Maxx in it, and do all the regular maintanance, it will treat you good!

Thanks for the info. I was pretty sure about the ABS, but the owner's manual daid something about a "TRAC" switch on the console to turn the Traction function off. I don't see a switch anywhere on the console, so thats why I asked about that.
I can get key fobs online pretty cheap and they have the simple programming procedures with them. Dealers want $50-$75 bucks and another $35 to $50 to program it.
Again, thanks for the help.

I don't see a button anywhere on the center console. I assume that indicates this vehicle is not equipped with ABS, or Trac control.?? I have not yet looked at the master cylinder but usually every car I have had, that was ABS equipped, had a lot of stuff on and around it that a standard brake system did not. We now have some rain coming down so I guess I need to take it out and slam the brakes and see if I get all the chattering and feedback from the brake pedal one gets from an ABS equipped vehicle.
I was told by a number of people and read that this was standard on all the Monte Carlo vehicles of this model year. The previous owner had no clue what either of these systems were.

Hi Bud.
You can buy a new OEM, GM key fob on eBay for about $25. If it still has the factory radio you can program it using the radio controls, otherwise you will need to take it to a locksmith with a key programmer, or someone with a Tech 2 scanner.
ABS is standard.
