2002 Monte Carlo SS - New Guy from Ohio
Well make sure its not an actual failing cat converter, some shops can read the air bag code and see the real hidden story behind it, 3rd it's a 13yo car rust on a frame is common and no reason to repair it unless it's rotten through. 86k is considered a low miles car, how's the transmission on it?
My best suggestion is if you really are considering the car take it to a reputable shop have them do a full inspection plus read the airbag & engine lights, run a carfax to see if milage is true. If all checks out then not a penny over $2600 (in the real world this car doesn't sell for over 3k) the owner will be listing that car for a year at 3500... No one will take the bait at that. The average price for a regular SS or LS is $2000

OK, Canton is not all that far away (about 1 hour or so). Ever consider going to a Monte meet? The guys in in Michigan have a fall meet coming up that I am thinking about going to.
And thanks for the compliments on my pic. The transparent hood was a photoshop trick done by ChibiBlacksheep and it was taken when we were at the GM Nationals a couple years ago in Carlisle PA.

Fall meet is September 12th. I am still thinking about going this year (I went to the spring meet). Last I knew, some of the crew from New York are planning to be there this fall.
