Default 2002 Chevy Monte Carlo Issues

I need help!

My 2002 Chevy Monte Carlo is having multiple issues.

1. The car is hard to start whether it is hot or cold.
2. It has died while driving several times.
3. The ac, heat, or air does not always come on. It takes turning it off and on several time to get it to come on.
4. Today, the odometer is no dark (no information).

Some research indicates it may be the BCM or the MAP. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Also, the cruise control stopped working, but the light will flash periodically.

yes the bcm can lead to multiple electrical failures, have you done a tune up, the hard start could also be that the car requires new plugs and wires.

Are you getting a CEL giving you any codes?

If you need a new bcm you can't buy a used one, they have to be programmed by the dealer but you can get a cheaper new one on rockauto.com but still needs to be dealer programmed.

Copied this from another thread on the forum here

Problem: I’m experiencing seemingly unrelated electrical problems in the vehicle. This can manifest and power locks that don’t work, parasitic draws that kill your battery while you are away from the car, a radio and instrument cluster that won’t turn off. Problem may be exacerbated by high temperatures
Cause: Bad BCM
Solution: Replace BCM (need to find a shop that has a Tech 2 to program the new BCM to match the vehicle). Do not purchase a used BCM, these are programmable once and cannot be used in another vehicle easily.
Prevention: Avoid jump starting the vehicle as this might kill the BCM

Interesting video.

My brother gave me the car 3 1/2 years later. When he gave it to me, the ABS light and service traction lights were on too. He said he had two mechanics look at it, but could not find anything wrong. The video posted below says he had the same indicators and replacing the BCM helped. It could be that, but I also just found a video explaining how to tell and replace the wire/hub if faulty. Looks like I have some work to do.

If the abs and traction lights were on then they were throwing a code which will tell you exactly which wheel hub needs to be replaced, I would start with getting the codes read before you do too much so that you know you are in the right direction
