2001 monte carlo security light

Default 2001 monte carlo security light

Been reading up on this issue,,just bought 2001 ss very nice ride,,yet after 130 miles the security light came on,,stayed on for half hr or so,,no trouble with stalling out or starting,,light just stays on,,after i stoped car and restared it light was off,,my concern is that i have read some of theses cars will stop while driving because of this,,should this happen and fuel line is cut off as book says and im doing 60 or 75 down the road will i loose steering breaks ect,,,kinda scary to think of while driving down the road,,any ideas,,

Never heard of one stalling while running (except maybe within 5 seconds of starting). Usually it will simply refuse to start if the Passlock system malfunctions. Then you have to sit with the ignition in the 'On' position for 10 min's to reset it before trying to start again.

Thanks sparky,,light is still on while running,,sometimes when i hit a bump it flashes,,but have had no troubles with starting or while running,,had the car 2 days,its always fun getting used to a new personality..lol sure is a nice ride hope it wont end up disapointing,,,thanks again for the response

No problem. I've been battling a malfunctioning Passlock system for the past couple of years. I'm going to install a Passlock bypass circuit. The bypass is commercially available from a variety of sources. It's needed in order to install a remote starter. I don't want a remote starter, but the bypass should eliminate my security issues.
