1st Monte Carlo.

1st Monte Carlo.
My name is Wade. I sell school buses in Iowa. I am no mechanic but willing to try some minor fixes. I am 46 years old and just recently bought a 2002 Monte Carlo SS. I plan to drive it until my son turns 16 in 10 months and then give it to him. Since 2005 I have had the best luck with Nissan Altima's, 4 of them totaling 1.4 million miles collectively. I was driving a 2008 that had 255k on it and was planning on giving it to my son in Feb when he turns 16. Well I hit a deer and long story short is I started looking for a different car I could use until FEB. Could not find an Altima anywhere that was older than 2010. Like I said they are good cars. Then I came across this '02 Monte with 195k miles. The body and interior were pristine! The engine and tranny seemed solid thought it was obvious a little work as going to have to be done. Figured I get it mechanically sound and he will have a great 1st car.
I am looking forward to finish up the work on this car and seeing how long he can make it last.
Than you for reading my info.

Hi Wade;
The Monte Carlo was my sons first choice for his Car. He inherited his Sisters Car a Pontiac Grand Am and I let him drive that until I could find the Monte.
I have owned mostly GM cars all my life and have driven several to well over 300K. However maintenance is the Auto's friend for longevity. It is also a good idea to teach your son all the little tricks you have learned about cars.
I recall when my daughter took drivers Ed. and then got her learners permit and informed me that she would be driving now. I said yah, right when you pass my test?! She ran to her mother and said what does he mean by that? I told her I would teach her to drive the car when it is out of control. I did that and today she is a good driver I feel safe riding with her, she lives in Colorado and told me about a year ago about something that had happened on the road and she remembered what I told her and she said it worked.
My son on the other hand has to learn it by himself? Go figure.
Monte Carlo should be a good car, take the cell phones away before you let him drive. It will save the car and your son.
