Question 03 Monte SS Stop going Forward

I know everyone Is going to say swap transmission and problem solved...is there a cheaper way to fix this, maybe the band in the transmission snapped. I do have big rims on the baby. any suggestions? woke up early morning and for the 3rd time I've started my Monte freezing cold outside, pulled right off without warming it up fully.drove 5 miles an hour to the Gassation up the street so it could warm up(I at least know not to gun it without warming it up especially if your car needs work done to it). any who... bought my zoom zooms and wham whams, it started raining so I pulled out the gustation and hit the gas paddle full throttle as I'm making a turn down the block,(reason was to slide in the rain which I did)THEN THATS WHEN IT HAPPENED (NO FORWARD/DRIVE GEAR). NOW IT BARELY MOVES...IT REVERSE JUST FINE THOUGH..MY 06 Buick LaCrosse DID THE SAME THING AFTER I SWAPPED A NEWER BETTER MOTOR IN IT.

When is the last time the Trans fluid was changed?? is it Red or Brown. If the later change it out and then add some Lucas Trans additive, that might help.

Youll probably need to have a trans shop look at it unless you can pull data and interpret it. Like above, hows the fluid look and when was the last time it was changed?

What was the outcome of the LaCrosse?

thanks!!!! for the advise guys, its it's in between, seems like its the brown color. "AAMCO Transmission Shops" seem as if that's the right way to go. they said just bring it in so the can run test on it and maybe its a less expensive fix than most think....although replacing a trans could solve all. "Pull your own Parts Junk Yard" said its $125 if I pull one. which is awesome but its a gamble not knowing if the trans was good. so ill go with you all advice and take it to a trans shop, a real one likes "AAMCO" not like all the others that will automatically say "replace trans $2,500+..lol....but if AAMCO say replace it, then the junk yard I go....or just strip my MC this Winter and swap an LS in there and get a trans for an LS....??....

I have to wait until later this week /next week to get it towed to AAMCO ...I think I'll start with the Buick before my MC just to find out the issue....but all in all really thinking of stripping my MC this Winter and saw the LS and Trans in there, while driving the Buick soon as I fix it...I'll let you know fisher what happens next week.

yea it's probably too late now to prevent it, I can"t wait to learn how to rebuild trans and motors......well I at least had fun with the 3800 motor but wish I would've enjoyed it more if I would've took my 24 inch rims off....My 19 Inch Rims were funner but my 24's still rode very good, every passenger was amazed how smooth my MC on 24's rode better than their Impalas and trucks on big rims......but that morning I messed up by smashing the gas too hard on a earl cold morning...lol...

V8 swaps have been done and I think the most simple would be an LS4 as it could stay FWD but its still quite the task.

Just a little FYI, the trans' in these cars suck. Theyre known for being fragile and breaking down at 50k or lasting until 200k. Ive even heard one guy on here say he was in like the 240k with the original trans.. -But I think the majority dont last as they should.

The reason I tell you is because they last even less with bigger wheels. Its just too much for the little guys to handle lol.

Speaking from past experience with a different car you need to do a BBB complaint review about AAMCO prior to letting them touch your car. Ouch.....
