THE BIG STORY
Sunday's Heluva Good! 400 at Michigan International Speedway ended with Denny Hamlin in victory lane for the second consecutive week. Hamlin led 123 of the 200 laps and finished 1.2 seconds clear of Kasey Kahne. Kurt Busch, Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart completed the top five. Kevin Harvick (19th) leads Kyle Busch (20th) by 22 points.
Also: Steve Lane, No. 38 Cup crew chief, was fined $100,000 and suspended from NASCAR until Sept. 15 for unapproved modifications to the valve stem hardware at Pocono. Car chief Richard Bourgeois and tire specialist Michael Harrold also were suspended until Sept. 15. Driver Travis Kvapil and owner Doug Yates were docked 150 points . . . Paul Clapprood is Bobby Labonte's interim No. 71 crew chief, replacing Doug Randolph . . . In the Nationwide series, No. 10 crew chief Stuart Cooper and tire specialist Sean Whisenhunt and No. 38 crew chief Trip Bruce and tire specialist Kevin Bellicourt were suspended from NASCAR until June 23 with the crew chiefs also fined $25,000 each. The violation was using tires/wheels from another team without approval. Drivers Tayler Malsam and Jason Leffler and owners Todd Braun and Ralph Braun lost 25 points . . . Graham Rahal will replace injured Mike Conway for the IndyCar Iowa race . . . Sammy Swindell won Friday night in the World of Outlaws feature in Dodge City, Kansas . . . Les Richter, former NASCAR vice president, IROC chairman and president of Riverside International Raceway, died at age 79 . . . NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Neal Parker, 58, died after a qualifying-run crash Friday at Englishtown, N.J.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
Kurt Busch took the pole Friday at Michigan with a 189.984 mph lap. Kyle Busch had to start in the back after an engine change. Sunday, Kurt Busch led 47 of the first 51 laps. Denny Hamlin took the lead on lap 52. The first yellow came when Marcos Ambrose spun. Around halfway, Scott Speed spun after contact with teammate Casey Mears. Sam Hornish Jr. took the lead from Kurt Busch on the restart - but only for a couple of laps. Hornish faded to finish 26th. Hamlin was the leader when a round of green-flag stops began around lap 140 and he continued to dominate until the end. There was a late debris caution that created a restart on lap 187. Hamlin's Toyota averaged 156.386 mph with four yellows for 14 laps.

NASCAR Nationwide Series

Joey Logano won Saturday night's Meijer 300 at Kentucky Speedway, taking the race win at that track for the third consecutive year. He led 106 of the 200 laps in a Toyota and finished .662 second ahead of Carl Edwards. Brad Keselowski was third. Logano averaged 115.286 mph with 10 yellows for 51 laps. Keselowski is 272 points ahead of Edwards.


NASCAR Camping World Truck Series

Aric Almirola led the final seven laps to take Saturday's VFW 200 at Michigan, his second career victory. It was a three-way, side-by-side battle with Todd Bodine, who finished second, and Kyle Busch, in third. Almirola's Toyota won by .111 second and averaged 118.558 mph with five yellows for 24 of the 100 laps. There was a 40-minute rain delay after 38 laps. Bodine is 55 points ahead of Almirola.

NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series
Rain forced the final rounds of the NHRA SuperNationals to Monday. In Top Fuel, Larry Dixon will face Antron Brown. Cory McClenathan ran the quickest 1,000-foot pass, 3.752 seconds, in Friday qualifying to earn the No. 1 spot. He lost in the second round. In Funny Car, Del Worsham will run Bob Tasca III. Jack Beckman qualified 12th in the Valvoline/MTS Dodge Charger and lost in the semifinals. In Pro Stock, the finalists are Mike Edwards and Shane Gray. Ron Krisher didn't qualify in the Valvoline Chevrolet Cobalt. In Pro Stock Motorcycle, Michael Phillips will race Steve Johnson.


American Le Mans Series
Audi won the sports car endurance classic for the ninth time, sweeping the top three positions, as rival Peugeot cars encountered suspension and engine problems. Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas and Mike Rockenfeller won and set a new distance record of 3,362.19 miles over 397 laps. Marcel Fassler, Andre Lotterer and Benoit Treluyer finished one lap behind. Allan McNish, Rinaldo Capello and Tom Kristensen were third after an early race tangle with another car. The Audis finished 28 laps ahead of fourth place. In LMP2, Danny Watts, Jonny Kane and Nick Leventis won in a Honda Performance Development ARX-01c. In GT1, the Saleen S7-R driven by Gabriel Gardel, Roland Berville and Julien Canal won. In GT2, Marc Lieb, Richard Lietz and Wolf Henzler won in a Porsche 911 GT3 RSR.


Formula One
Lewis Hamilton won Sunday's Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal from the pole in a McLaren-Mercedes. He finished 2.2 seconds ahead of teammate Jenson Button after 70 laps. Fernando Alonso was third in a Ferrari. Mark Webber lost five grid positions, to seventh, after a gearbox change. He finished fifth. Webber, on a different tire strategy, yielded the lead to Hamilton on lap 50. Hamilton is three points ahead of Button.


Racer of the Week
Sammy Swindell. Won his first World of Outlaws feature since 2006 at Dodge City Raceway Park.
