THE BIG STORY

Marcos Ambrose clipped the curb on the last corner of the last lap Sunday, launching his Toyota's left-side wheels into the air, and allowing Carl Edwards to cut underneath and win the NAPA Auto Parts 200 Nationwide Series race in Montreal. All the cars, including Edwards' Ford, were on rain tires at the end. Edwards had crashed a Grand-Am car the day before and had facial and shoulder discomfort. Kyle Busch was involved in a late tangle and finished 10th and now tops Edwards by 192 points.

The 50th Winternationals at Pomona opens the 24-race tour on Feb. 14… Gene Nead was named Michael Waltrip's No. 55 Cup interim crew chief, with Robert (Bootie) Barker going to the engineering department … Joey Saldana won the World of Outlaws features Friday and Saturday nights in Edmonton, Canada… J.R. Daniel Herrington won his first race… Jonathan Summerton won Sunday's Atlantic series race at Mosport… Jorge Lorenzo, on a Yamaha, won the MotoGP race Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

NASCAR Nationwide Series

Marcos Ambrose started on the pole after Saturday qualifying at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve was done in the rain. He led 60 laps in the incident-filled event which lasted just under four hours. Before halfway, Justin Allgaier lost control under braking and triggered an accident and eliminated Ron Fellows and damaged Kyle Busch's car. Rain brought out a red flag on lap 61 so all teams could change to rain tires. The final 11 laps, including two extra under the green-white-checker rule, were plagued by cautions. On the last one, Edwards got into the grass in turn one, and that caught-up several cars, including Busch. Ambrose led into the last turn, but bounced over the curbing, giving Edwards the opening and a .393 second victory. Andrew Ranger was third in a Toyota, followed by Jacques Villeneuve and Brad Keselowski. Edwards led just three laps and averaged 53.869 mph with 11 yellows for 31 laps.

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series

Kyle Busch won Friday night's EnjoyIllinois.com 225 at Chicagoland. His Toyota passed Todd Bodine's Tundra on a restart with 19 laps to go. Another caution created a seven-lap run to the end, with Busch finishing .580 second clear of Bodine. Colin Braun was third in a Ford. Busch averaged 119.293 mph with seven yellows for 28 laps. Busch led a total of 79 laps. Ron Hornaday Jr. (11th) is 220 points ahead of Matt Crafton (14th).

IndyCar Series

Ryan Briscoe edged Scott Dixon by .0077 second to win Saturday night's Peak 300 at Chicagoland Speedway. He took the lead with two laps to go for his third victory of the season. Briscoe had lost track position when he pitted too-far from the pit wall, making refueling difficult. Mario Moraes was a career-best third. Helio Castroneves crashed in the late-going due to a suspension failure. Briscoe averaged 177.826 mph with three yellows for 23 laps. He leads Dario Franchitti (fourth) by 25 points. The 2010 schedule was adjusted to put Texas on June 5, Kentucky Sept. 4 and Japan Sept. 19. Will Power and Nelson Philippe were released from a California hospital after a crash during practice at Infineon. They are continuing treatment with their local doctors.

American Le Mans Series

David Brabham and Scott Sharp won Sunday's Grand Prix of Mosport by two laps over Gil de Ferran and Simon Pagenaud. Both teams were in P1 class Acuras. The key moment came before the 45-minute mark in the two hour, 45-minute event when de Ferran pitted and started to get out for a driver change, only to get back in the Acura because he had not yet reached his minimum time in the car, which also suffered from a gearbox leak. In P2, Adrian Fernandez and Luis Diaz clinched the championship with their seventh win in eight races. In GT2, Johnny O'Connell and Jan Magnussen got the first class win for the Chevrolet Corvette C6.R.

Rolex Sports Car Series

Max Angelelli stayed on course with rain tires while others pitted for slicks in Saturday's Montreal 200. Before Angelelli, co-driving a Ford-Dallara with Brian Frisselle, could stop, the rain began again. That advantage allowed the duo to win by more than a minute over the Porsche-Riley of Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas. Jon Fogarty and Alex Gurney were third in a Pontiac-Riley. The winner's averaged 89.526 mph over 67 laps in the two-hour event. Fogarty and Gurney lead Angelelli, Frisselle and Scott Pruett/Memo Rojas (ninth) by five points. In GT, Robin Liddell and Andrew Davis won in a Pontiac GXP.R.

Formula One

Ferrari won for the first time this season, with Kimi Raikkonen getting a .9 second win over poleman Giancarlo Fisichella in Sunday's Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps. It was Raikkonen's fourth victory at the famed track. He started sixth but quickly passed Fisichella for the lead on a restart after the safety car was dispatched because of an opening lap accident. That incident took out championship leader Jenson Button and reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton, among others. Fisichella scored the best-ever result for the underfunded Force India-Mercedes team. Sebastian Vettel was third in a Red Bull-Renault. Rubens Barrichello was seventh, despite an oil leak in the closing laps, and closed to within 16 points of teammate Button.

Racer of the Week
Joey Saldana. Kasey Kahne's driver led all 70 laps in two A-Features in Canada, bringing his season total to 15 World of Outlaws wins.

The simple life

You would think the life of a three-time Cup champion would be chaotic, but it's not. Jimmie Johnson likes to keep things simple both at home and on the road.
