Picks/Talladega/Sun Afternoon
Ive been picking harvick JR and Gordon...
Gordons starting almost dead last...
Neither harv or Jr is starting near the front..
Im not sure Harvick is going to excel since hes in the chase...
I cant decide if I want to swap jimmie Johnson for harvick..
Since so many have picked Harvick also...
Hmmmmm
Gordons stats at Taledega not so much as is Harvick...
But Jimmie and Jr both have some outstanding stats...
Even though Jr hasn't won Dega since 2004!
Gordon has won Dega starting as far back as 36th...
Decisions Decisions.....

Starting position doesn't matter here. Gordon has won races from last place before. But it doesn't matter. There are trends and luck and the such, but it's all for naught.
Brent may be excited to here I expanded my Goonyer diecast collection by 1 yesterday... found this little beauty for $3 at a big car show yesterday and just couldn't help myself...

They even had a Jimmie Johnson display car, Carl...

I have a few #8 diecasts myself. Hope they bring him luck.
I got the drinking hat on now, but haven't started yet. Not until the green flag. I think this first lap is gonna take more than one beer...

Chooo Chooooooo....

It's a lot harder to hate Goonyer than it used to be. He was even talking about that with Marty Snyder in a pre-race special. He said back 10 years ago he blamed the team for problems, would show up 5 minutes late for practice (as in, cars were on the track-late for practice.)
And admits now what I already knew- he didn't really like going to the track for a long time, he didn't like the attention, he just wanted to go out and drive.... he didn't care about anything but trying to carry a legacy and even admitted he used to ride on his name.
Now he's more devoted to his performance, he's more about the team than himself, and it shows.

The inside lane is more disorganized and spaced out than I've seen it in years. I don't know if it's the drivers, the air, the new tire compound, or something else.
I'm kind of glad I don't have Joey. sounds like there is some team order to get Brad a win and the 22 is sticking with the 2. We know how that worked out for Goonyer a few years back
