Points and Congratulatory Remarks
I'd like to extend a congratulations to SupplySgt Drew, who won the biggest race of the year, the Daytona 500!! As a constellation prize, he is also the points leader!! Remember, last year, the man who won Daytona led until Darlington! So he might be someone to watch for a while!

Classic NASCAR Photo for Fun
The Wood Bros hauler and Fred Lorenzens Holman Moody owned haulers back in the 60s.... Roadway ran those C Cab Ford trucks for many years.... of course, Ford built that truck for many years too.
Fantasy This Week
In 2011, we saw like 8-9 lead changes for the points lead between about 5-6 members. Last year, 3 members led the points, and it was only swapped twice. It will be interesting to see how things go since SupplySgt showed some trends of consistency last year.
Also, 77GP Jerry will be going for his third straight win in this spring Phoenix race. However, he has to hold off the guy who won here in November! Also, it's my mothers birthday that dya... she will be turning 61.
Rundown
Chevrolet Teams
Certainly, the Chevrolet showed speed at Daytona. But do they have the handling and the grip on the Gen 6 car to make it work in Phoenix? Historically speaking, they will be the cars to beat. But which ones do you pick?
Hendrick
Hendrick, and particulalry the 48 team, ahs a tendency to figure out a new car quicker than anyone else. Jimmie is so solid at Phoenix, but since the repave, Jimmie hasn't been as strong at Phoenix. remmeber, he wasn't great in November and pushed his car until he blew a tire. He had a 10th-15th place ride.
Jeff Gordon won the last race on the old track, and had a top 5-top 10 going last November.
Kasey Kahne sucked on the "old" Phoenix but is good at the new Phoenix!
Dale Jr is actually alright here too...
Stewart Haas
Danica might be a sleeper in this crowd. She was running like 12th before a last lap crash in November. They might come out of the box with another strong run.
Tony is hit and miss on tracks like this... he'll either dominate or run 15th.
Newman has his old crew chief and will be hard to tell if they will hit the ground running, or have a big hole to dig out of getting reaquainted and figuring out the new car.
Childress
Harvick is solid at Phoenix and won the last time out, so he has that going for him....
Burton and Menard... I just don't know about them guy anymore. I just feel like the shop is being set up for Dillon boys.
Furniture Row
Hard to saw what Kurt Busch will do this year... so much in Limbo, but having Hendrick connections could play some favors.
Toyotoa
Especially for a flat track, I hvae to think the group that will be hot on the Chevy's heels and possibily defeat the Chevrolets will have to be the Toyotas. I don't know if the engine package will be a problem here since a restricter plate engine and a Phoenix engine are so much different.
Last year, the Gibbs cars were the dominant force to be reckoned with. Will it be the same this time around?
Gibbs
Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin have a grip on the feel they wnat for a flat fast track like Phoenix or Richmond. Their cars have shown a lot of speed in testing at places like Charlotte too, so we'll have to see how it goe sin race trim. I have to think a Gibbs pick is a good one.
As a Ford driver, Kenseth couldn't seem to get all the pieces together to dominate at Phoenix. I wonder if a Gibbs Toyota will give him that feel he wants.
Michael Waltrip
Bowyer is good on this type of track (remember, all those wins at New Hampshire, a couple at Richmond), so he might be a car to watch here.
It will be interesting as a team as a whole to see if Truex and Bowyer can keep the 2012 magic going.
Ford Teams
I feel like my Ford guys are behind the curve this time. But I hope I can be proven wrong... Ford's are not traditaionlly strong at Phoenix, so a strong run here could be a good sign for when intermediate track season gets here....
Roush Fenway
So far, Carl's 2012 luck extended right into 2013. How many shells does the 99 have? It may take a little time for he and Jimmy Fennig and the old 17 team to mesh. Th ething he has going for him is that Phoenix used ot be a good 99 car track.
Greg Biffle seemed to pick up where 2012 left off. He might be the flagship of the Roush team this year.
Stenhouse might be next rookie sensation or the next Joey Logano and flop... hard to say.
Penske
I think Pensek might be the hope of Ford. BK knows the feel he wants out of a car on a flat track. Whether the Ford engines can provide the torque and the powerband needed is still up for grabs though.
Logano used to post decent times at Phoenix and he has that FoMoCo oval on his car too.
Petty
With theo ld COT, Petty had a tendency to rip out of the box like a bat out of hell. They would run good for 5-6 weeks, especially on intermediates, then fall off as the season goes on. So we'll see if that trend follows.
My Picks
Not making any yet. Going to wait for some practice charts and qualifying tables....

I was going to revert back to 2011 picks, but think I will take 2 of them and drop Newman for Johnson since he is off to a good start. I normally stear clear of him since he is on my dislike list but this isn't about who I like now is it. Can I maintain my stronghold on this race for the third year running?
1. Harvick
2. Gordon
3. Johnson
