Thanks `Duane, for Joey's link...I think he will be a future Nascar Champ...I wish he was racing for Hendrick or in a good Chevy Again, I have no idea who to pick for the Race...I will change my fist picks, but I just did that to get things moving on your thread I want to pick Jr if he does good in practice. Is New Hampshire a hard track to pass on ? I mean harder then others ?
I hope the race is on the radio this weekend & that the weather is good...Peace/out from `Space

It is a good track for him... top 10s on bad years even.

HEre is first practice... some teams were anticipating rain tomorrow so they ran 1st practice, which is theoretically for qualifying trim, in race trim just in case. So these numbers are a bit manipulative.

For those not nerdy enough to watch 1 car at a time going out on the track.... here is what is happening and let me explain the rules first:

Basically, you go out in reverse order of your 1st practice speeds. Juan Montoya was 5th fastest. All but those last 5 cars, whcih were the first 5 in first practice, have qualified. The last couple of cars had a couple of rain drops on teh windsheild. NASCAR held Paul Menard after Clint Bowyer qualified, and sent a truck on the track to analyze the situation. They then sent Menard out, nad he ran 10th. He says the track is fine. They then ASK Juan Montoya if he wants to go out, and he says no. Jimmie was 4th fastest and right behind Montoya, then ask him if he wants to go, and he says he goes after the 42. Period. So Montoya refused to go out since there were rain drops on his windsheild The track was not wet at the time, not really. So he sat there, not on a clock or anything, and now the rain has picked up. Montoya manipulated the whole of qualifying so he could start 5th and not risk a qualifying lap by refusing to go out because there were rain drops on his windshield..

While all of htat is transpriing, that type of rain that practically evaporates as it hits was coming down. After like 10-15 minutes of this, it actually starts raining enough to bring out jet dryers. Montoya held everyone up and has everyone, including NASCAR, actually pissed with him. The go or go home guys would be screwed up, Kurt Busch who practiced horribly is up near the front right now, and Montoya decided that he would manipulate qualifying.

In his defense, Mark Martin went on the track several minutes earlier to make a run and said there was no grip because it was raining. The last several cars times had dropped off a little bit and they were expected to be the fastest cars and they weren't.

EDIT: Situation update: They dried the track, Monotya hit the track and was visibily loose and sliding. Jimmie went on after him, reported rain drops on his windshield, and shut his car off to go back in the pits. 4 cars left to qualify and they're refusing.

Shortly afteR Montoya bombed his run and Johnson refused, they got back on the track and those guys all ran fast laps. apparently, Montoya did like he alwyas does and psyched himself out on his run. Newman ran an impressive lap.
