I agreed to a press conference... and I have a few questions. If anyone would like to add some, I'll answer them later on as well.

I'd like to start with my opening statement... I'm happy with my performance so far in this segment, running 2nd with 25 points out of 1st. Although I was hoping to defend my title, It's looking like I'll have to settle with a chance to go for 3rd. I'm most happy to have ended my 66 race winless streak which dated back to Bristol in March 2011. I'm pretty ambivalent about how. Jeff Gordon's shot into Bowyer really cost me 25 points that coudl have had me close to, tied, or even ahead of 03JGMonte for the Segment lead, and could have had me third in the overall points with a snowballs chance at a title.

But at the same time, years from now when we look back at this race, and how historic that throwdown was, and how much excitement there was... I'll be proud to be the one who can say I survived the ending of that race and broke a long winless streak through all that melee.

And at this time, I'll take a couple of questions...

That's a great question. I'm glad we (by that, I mean I, since you live in Canada), live in a free country where you can ask great questions like that. I want to do everything possible to make sure this remains a free country open to ideas and expression and welcomes people who ask great questions like that.

I don't know. Although I'm guilty of breaking it all the time, my general rule is "I won't tell you how to do your job if you don't tell me how to do mine." NASCAR is the one that said "Boys, have at it"... so this 25 point penalty and big fine for Jeff Gordon is almost saying "Well, don't have at it that much."

As far as points and fines... these guys are millionaires and billionaires... they don't care about money and fines. Besides, it all goes to charity and I bet they could write these fines off their taxes for that reason. I fail to see how fines do anythign but look impressive to those of us who work for $30,000 a year.

Points are going to get attention... but the thing with Jeff is, he isn't racing for a championship anyway so he doesn't care too much. Perhaps if we took away Jeff's poitns nad gave them to Clint... but if Clint won the title, that would look fishy. I think the only logical thing to do with drivers is to give them suspensions when they pull this crap. Not being able to race takes away their ability to do the one thing they love most.

Bowyer.... well, Bowyer didn't do anything to any other driver on the track.... he did things the proper way by trying ot settle it in the garage. Joey Logano didn't lose a chance at a top 10 finish ebcause of Bowyer's actions.

So, in summary... I say either do suspensions or call it "Boys, have at it" and do nothing.

In most cases, the people penalized lost positions.

However, the rule, as stated in our rules and procedures thread, stickied inside the NASCAR Racing thread on this forum, read as follows:

6) Any penalties that any of your picks earn points wise for the entire year will also be taken away from your own points. This includes any comments made by your driver that end up in points deductions, such as when Jr. cursed in victory lane and was docked points, or any points deductions due to illegal parts on your choices car, such as when Clint Bowyer was docked 150 points at New Hampshire in 2010. Any penalty involving probation or money only will not result in any points loss.

One thing we neglected when making the rules was whether or not a person should ose their position in the race. I have decided that since Gordon was still given credit for 28th position, therefore, all members who picked him should maintain their position in the race. However, two of those guys would be unaffected and another would drop from 9th to 11th. I have interpreted the rule to say that only poitns position due to p[oints loss should be factored in, and that each member shoudl maintain their position. Therefore, Leprechaun will maintain his 9th place finish. This rule is open to discussion and editing for 2013.

New race results read as follows

1) Cowboy6622 43 43 16 102

Harvick
Keslowski
Johnson

It has been a fun season but my picks were all pretty bad this season. I had at least 1 driver fall apart each week. I wish Carl and Mike luck in the final race. Overall it was a fun season but like Chris I am unsure about my participation next year.

In other news, Montreal didn't make the NASCAR cut for a race this year... kind of a shame, it was really the best road course on teh schedule.

But in its place, the Mid Ohio Sports Car Circuit gets a race!! I think that's cool.... I think the Sprint cup guys need a good road course... I'm still saying someone needs to run Sebring!!!

And rumor on the street is that the truck series is going to run Eldora Speedway!!! A dirt track!!!
