Correct me should I be wrong here, but the rule is that when the field is frozen, you have to "maintain speed" therefore, the field should be locked at the moment the caution was waved, then the cars that managed to roll across the line should be advanced in postiion. Those that were stopped on the track should be scored by the last scoring loop before the caution came out, with the cars that made it through moved up, of course. That's how I would do it if I were NASCAR, because by my interpretation of precedence and reading of the NASCAR rules, that's hwo it should be.
That is my understanding, but I'm not sure that's what happened. Nascar always seems to panic when they wreck at the end! There never has been a clear definition of what "maintain speed" is
Well Brent, as we know, NASCAR stands for...

I think a new rule should be implemented. On the last lap, should there not be a crash that is blocking the start finish line, then there should not be a caution thrown!!!
Or, depending on the size of the track (Bristol perhaps 2 lines, Daytona/Talladega 4-5), have "caution lines" that when the caution comes out, you race to the line that the leader crosses first, that way, when a crash like this breaks out, the cars that cross htat line get scored, the ones that don't get scored behind. For this one time, I have to agree. NASCAR just can't figure out how to deal with crashes at the end of the race!!! That, and they don't always wave the caution!!! You were at Charlotte last spring. With like 3 cars crashing going into turn 1, NASCAR says, "Jr is leading, leave it green!!!" But earlier in the race, when a 2L coke fell on the track, NASCAR said "THROW THE CAUTION, NOW NOW NOW!!!"
Last year, David Ragan lost the Daytona 500 because he came down in front of Trevor Bayne before the finish line. Trevor Bayne wanted Ragan down in front of him anyway, yet NASCAR punished Ragan. Plus, other cars had made the same move in the same race and weren't penalizeD!!!!!

For this time Brent, I believe we can both agree with Jimmy Spencer, despite my knowing you don't like him. NASCAR needs to make more consistent calls at tehse races.

So far, from what I've seen, and that's not a lot, Speed Week has been GREAT! The 500 should be a classic, if the previous races are any indications.
Congratulations James Buescher on his 1st win, and to Benny Gordon for doing a great job and finishing 12th. Good job!

Ultimately, even if my lousy picks did not loose it for me, 02 Earnhardt Monte Carlo SS wins by disqualification. Congrats 02 Earnhardt Monte Carlo SS !
Looks like Benny Gordon may have finished 12th - nothing to be ashamed of! These results were weird. And wrong. How did cars who wrecked and couldn't finish end up with a better finish then those behind the last wreck that could finish. Nascar rules are always up in the air
