The race was shortened to 238 laps from the scheduled 337. It may have rianed earlier in the day, considering there was rain in the forecast.

One of my favorite things from back in the dya is my 1968 Bristol video.... the cars came roaring down pit road with large water puddles and splashed water everywhere as they charged down pit road.

I only have it on my DVD collection.... not on YouTube... sorry.

I also remember a race at North Wilkesboro on ESPN Classics where it started raining and cars were sliding around and they waited until the track was shiny to throw a caution.

i know you're messing around, but seriously, people didn't really do donuts until the last 10 years or so. Supposebly, Jeff Gordon ahd to get Jimmie Johnson to teach him how to do it! Alan Kulwicki's backwards lap in 1988 was so bizarre Kulwicki was scared NASCAR would fine him for it.

My dad grew up in the 60's and said people just weren't into doing donuts... peel outs and red light racing were where it was all at.... no one really thought about doing donuts.

What I was actually meaning Duane:

Is with the hot slick tires and then hitting the puddles...Hydroplaneing would be what I was imagineing...hence spinning out aka donuts.

Classic NASCAR Photo of the Day: The last of our 70's Monte Carlo shots for a while. Besides, in 1973, Chevrolet started using the smaller Vega. It was strange to see the big Ford Gran Torino, the big Dodge Charger, adn the big Mercury Montego take on the small Chevy Vegas.... but alas.

This was actually a Sportsman Series race at Charlotte, not a cup race... Sportsman went on to become the Busch Grand National, Busch Series, and eventually Nationwide Series...

This race had liek 28 lead changes among 12 drivers. This is Bobby Allison, in a car that resembles his cup ride, pulling into the lead in the middle of a 3 wide battle.
