No... go back and look at the pictures I posted.... they did NOT use a Charger body!!!

As 03SS says...

The Dodge Charger, The Dodge Charger 500, and the Dodge Charger Daytona are all different models...., but they're based on the same body.... just different ways they worked the exterior panels or adding wings/noses

The Plymouth Roadrunner and the Plymouth Superbird are their own car. Look at the pictures I posted... the Superbird doors and quarter fenders are all different.. along with the roof....

Although Plymouth used their own nose and wing, it was based on the design already made by Dodge... which is obvious to anyone looking at one. However, they did not put their own stuff on a dodge. They worked it to put on a '70 Roadrunner.

Take a look at the '69 Charger Daytona....

And here is the Plymouth Superbird...

Somewhere you misinterpreted something.... I don't know if that's my fault or not. But the bottom line is: the cars are different, the wings and noses are different, the interiors are diffferent... and of course, both Dodge and Plymouth thought their version was best.

Different cars.... worthy of different names.... and they were even different year models....

But it's nothing worht getting mad over...

So, All im getting at..despite plymouth makeing the roadrunner superbird... Did it ever race at daytona?

Or Did the Dodge..."Superbird" race at daytona....If so how did dodge end up calling the charger style a superbird?

Am I confused? or Just wrong?

Yeah.... Superbird ran Daytona Speedway..... Pete Hamilton won the Daytona 500 driving a Superbird for Petty...

But I still think you're thinking that Dodge built the Superbird... they didn't. The Charger was not called a Superbird... it was called a Charger Daytona. It was just named after the fastest speedway at the time...

It was kind of like how Ford called their aero car a "Torino Talladega." It was just a name that helped associate it with speed and NASCAR... same premise for the Charger Daytona.

Other than that... I don't know what to say. I'm almost confused now.

The Plymouth version.... as seen here...

That's the one that won Rockingham. He had a pit road collision with Cale Yarborough that damaged the quarter fender.

I could have made it more simple in the beginning by just saying "No, here is a Superbird, here is the difference." But after reading the whole story, I think it makes a lot more sense why everything is the way it is.
