The only # number I really care about is the remaining # in my bank account

I understand preserving the "3" in honor of Dale Sr & I think if it is ever used again, it should `be for Dale `Jr...when he becomes a Champion in Sprint Cup...I personally believe he is a champion driver now.

I do think that Dillon is a great driver & when he moves `up to Sprint Series, I could see them giving him the #03 as an alternative & to keep the die-heart Dale Sr fans happy...

If I was fortunate to be a race car driver in Nascar or any racing series, I'd like to have the number #1 on my car & in the driver's standings at the end of each season

Very interesting thread & I've enjoyed reading member's thoughts & opinions...

I know it maybe just a number to `me, but the #3 is a very important number to many in many Racing Families...

I will go against the grain a bit here. I personally was a huge Dale fan and It makes me feel good to see that Number 3 rolling to the checkers. Keep it the same style and look. Brings back memories. Long live the 3. I don't think it takes anything away from fans, only makes them remember.

I Don't really care if they run it or not. It is a double edged sword tho. As of right now people will buy #3 merchandise and are still Sr fans so you may lose that market by tying that number to a new person that they don't care about. So if you change the color and style for Austin do you still sell the old style too in memory.

Like others have said it is RC's decision and some will love it, some will hate it.
