Brickyard 2010
Here we go ... Brickyard 2010! Sounds more important when I write it like that.
Last year, I swore this race was fixed for Peblo to win it - and I said so before the race too. But he blew it (as he so often does) and made the best quote of the year in racing. "I swear on my wife and child - I was not speeding". They caught him speeding in 5 different zones on one stop. I still think they were running illegal gears, giving Peblo the extra top end and confusing him on pit row. So, he got the pole this time. Can he make Nascar history by blowing back-to-back fixed races?
Jimmie and Martin qualified well for Hendricks. This is one of 5 tracks Nacar runs that Martin has yet to win on (he has finished at least 2nd on all 5), so this would be a great time to break a losing streak. I am excited to see Villeneuve make the field (barely). I know he is very unpopular in the US, but I travelled to Talladega to catch his first Sprint Cup race 2 years ago. He was an exemplary gentleman in that race, choosing to start and finish last as to not mess with points contenders (even though he started well and was running top 10 near the end of the race). He is the only Canadian in the field, which means less to me then the fact that he isn't an an a*hole. But he's French and in a Toyota, and even I have a hard time overlooking that. I wish him well. If he could win he'd make history as the only person to ever win all 3 Indianapolis races (the Indy500, the Brickyard 400 and the US Grand Prix)
A good day forecast for Hendrick and Gibbs. Fast will win and I still think Peblo will blow it again. I hope somebody (preferably a Penske driver) gives Edwards what he deserves. I won't forgive Edwards until he apologizes (or takes out Peblo - an incredibly good idea to re-gain popularity).
My picks:
1. Mark Martin
2. Jimmie Johnson
3. Denny Hamlin
1st to garage (last): Dave Blaney
1st caution: Robbie Gordon
# of cautions: 8

Only thing interesting so far...
Lap 39
LEAD CHANGE: Mark Martin takes the lead when Juan Montoya hits pit road to have his crew take a look at the vibration he's feeling. He takes four tires.
We are winning the race!
Lap 1 was also cool when Sam Harnish and Kyle Busch spun simultaneously but independantly, and piled up the back of the field. Reed Sorenson and Elliot Sadler are collected and eliminated with Reed getting credited for last.
Robbie Gordon didn't cause the first, but he did cause the second caution on lap 14 when he blew a tire big time! The car was destroyed!

Lap 66 there is a bullsh*t caution for debris in turn 2. The camera quick pans to turn 2 where there is only rubber chunks - no debris. This caution saves Peblo needing a green flag stop and puts him back on sequence with the leaders. After pit stops its Bifle, Peblo, McMurray, Bowyer & Martin.

With 15 to go Peblo blows it - BIG SURPRISE!!! He takes Junior with him who was running 12th. Nobody was near Peblo when he spun
Technically he never spun. He lost it, slapped the wall hard and nailed Jr on the rebound. I can't wait to see who he blames

Jamie McMurray wins the Brickyard 400 and does an awesome burn out - I'd call it the best of the year. McMurray show that EGR has the equipment, but Peblo sucks and that he is still the driver who is hardest on equipment (his and everyone elses). I do not understand why anybody could like Peblo as he fails in so many ways. He emerges 22nd in the points.
I'm happy enough with the outcome (but am a little p*ssed at Peblo taking out Junior). McMurray is aces with me and I'm happy for his success inspite how I don't really believe EGR has ever really gotten behind him

It was a great record setting race for EGR and McMurray though.
