Hi `Jerry,
My grandfather & I watched several of those last eve & we had a super time 2gether...My grandfather really enjoyed them & it brought up some good memories for him.

I'm so thankful to have access to the `web & all the entertainment & history it provides to the users...

Now he is going to share those links with some other seniors to enjoy...He said "those were the good old days" 4-Sure

It's just amazing what NASCAR used to run on... maybe a tent for a garage for your car, open trailers to take it to the track.... some of those early tracks were crude to put it mildly....

Hi `Duane,
I found the YouTube vids on past old time racing very entertaining & fun & so did my grandfather & serveral of his senior friends....He was on his computer this morning with a few of his friends watching them & looked up Jr Johnson...
Below is a article on him that was in Hot Rod Magazine on him.
I thought you & our NASCAR member's might enjoy
Moonshine Runners, History, and Their Cars

Equipped with extra-stiff springs to conceal the weight of the load, a'40 Ford could carry up to 22 cases of liquor, each holding 12half-gallon glass jars of moonshine.

There is a guy here in town who restored a '38 Ford that used to run moonshine. The owner was murdered in Florida on a run and the man who killed him confessed on his death bed what he had done and where the body was...... solving a 40 year old murder case. Interesting stories...

Of course, ol' Junior is, I believe, the only major NASCAR stars to ever serve a prison sentence..... busted by the reveneurs....
