RE: Feb 2008 Monte of the Month
well all politicians vote for themselves... watch the evening news on election day and you will see the footage of the candidates voting for themselves. they do that as a sign that they feel they are qualified for the job. i see the argument on both sides, and think that both are very valid. there are pro's to each
As for voting for yourself:
Pro: If you vote for yourself, you make it known that you feel you are qualifed for the job.
Con: It is looked on by some as the honorable thing to do, and you allow the decision to be made by those not involved, not yourself.
Also, if you vote for someone else, you lead others to beleive you aren't credible for the postiion.
Possibly the best thing to do would be to just back out of the vote entirely, but this shoudl be left up to the participants to make the decision they feel is the best.

RE: Feb 2008 Monte of the Month
Alright guys, Space started a thread to discuss the issue of voting for yourself or not.
https://montecarloforum.com/m_74669/..._/tm.htm#74672
I don't mean to be hte moderator, but I think tis best that this thread stick to discussing the nominees and the vote itself, and transfer the argument to this thread please.
Thanks
Duane

The thing is, if that was one of the rules it would require everyone to have enough honor to follow it 'cause I don't think there is anyway to know otherwise if someone voted for their own car or not. Personally I don't think it usually makes much of a difference.

I think it's kinda expected for people to vote for themselves. On one hand, it may seem selfish to think of yourself before others. Most of the time, that may be the case. But when it comes to voting, I believe you should vote for the best person/whatever out of all the choices. If I'm one of the choices, and I don't vote for myself, it's saying that I don't have confidence in myself. In your case, you were trying to be polite and do the honorable thing, so it's excusable. Call it one of life's lessons, and learn from it. After all, we learn best from our mistakes.
As for Duane's comments...
Sure this topic might be better discussed in it's own thread, but I wouldn't call it an argument.
All I see is a bunch of members having a calm discussion on voting. No argument here so far.
