98 monte carlo LS, turn the switch on but won't start, replace the ignition/starter switch, still nothing. Can use a screw driver on the starter soleniod and it will start and run for about 5 seconds, then shuted off. Will start right back up but again for 5 seconds

Try to start it w/key, nothing (won't turn over). If you use a screw driver, it will start but only run about 5 sec. then stop (it will start back up but only for 5 sec.)

When you 1st turn the ignition switch, the pump will whine for about 2 sec.
Could it be something in the pmc?

Did you run the security relearn after replacing the ignition switch? If not I would do that 1st.

Here is a link to the relearn procedure https://montecarloforum.com/forum/fwd-tech-guides-95-07-62/security-re-learn-procedure-8598/
