Default Windshield Wiper Motor! Holy Cow!

Shop wants about $600 to replace the motor (windshield wipers never do what they are told, diagnosed it as motor), warranty will cover about $270. That seems like a lot of money out of pocket for a dang windshield wiper motor!

Is this something I could replace myself easily?

CARDONE INDUSTRIES 40-1012 Wiper Motor - eBay (item 220762610124 end time Apr-30-11 07:17:38 PDT)

i believe this is what you're looking for, but i'm not completely sure. sounds like that motor without the pump would work just because only your motor went out. I'm not sure how difficult it is to do on your own.

Hopefully someone else will jump in and be able to help you more

Thanks! I am not very mechanical, in fact everything I have tried on my car has not been very successful (I do not even change my oil anymore lol). Though recent successes on my motorcycle have me considering giving it a stab again.

EDIT: Btw its a 2003 SS 4.6, not listed on that part you linked but I don't see why it would be different on LS/SS.

Honestly I wouldn't fix it, but the warranty expires on April 8th so, yes $300+ out of pocket is a lot, but thats $270 less than it would be if I wait! $300 out of pocket is not THAT bad, and I probably won't mess with it unless it is going to save me a TON of money, and if people say its super easy. I also don't want to mess with it and find out I cannot get it done, because then not only am I out what I spent trying, but warranty will expire in the meantime.

Best part is, I thought my warranty was expired. Some pushy salesmen called me last week trying to sell me a renewal, and told me it is expiring soon! Hah!
