Default wheel studs

My son has a 1997 MC LS it had steel wheels he went and purchased Z34 aluminum chevy montewheels, my problem is when I went to mount the aluminum wheels on the car the lugs only catch the studthread by about 6 threads. I did some research and the Z34 and the LS with steel wheels take the same hub bearing from 1995 to 1999 and no mention about longer studs with aluminum wheels. Just wondering if anyone had a similar problem. Thanks in advance.

There are special lug nuts for aluminum wheels...they havea longer .746" shank, and a stainless washer.I just bought a set for a customer yesterday. The onesI got were made by Mcgard. His lugs are M12x1.5 hope this helps.

Were the wheels you put on z34 aluminum chevy wheels and what year was the car and if you have a part number it would be great. Thanks
