Need to replace headlight for 2006 Monte Carlo at dealer. What is the usual cost? Actually, not the whole headlight, just the replacement bulb.

 

I would recommend contacting the dealer. That is going to be your best chance at getting an accurate price (otherwise, most of us would be ball parking the price).

If you only need the bulb, walk into any autoparts store. Odds are they will have a replacement bulb you can buy off the shelf.

 

Is this one of those questions being asked because you already paid for one at the dealership? You get hosed? I would ball park at a dealership your probably going to be out $50 to $75 for a bulb, parts & labor.

A parts store perhaps about $15

Just go buy a new bulb someplace.
Take the bulb and stand next to your car out in the parking lot.

As others arrive to get some (sheet) they need, ... say "Hi" ... then say:

"Hey. I'll give you 10-Bucks if you put this headlight bulb in for me!"

And the nice thing about it is the whole post makes sense and is true. Most strangers given the opportunity, usually love to show off their mechanical skillzzz. Just pay attention on how they did it, as the next time you may be the one making $10 in the parking lot.

H11 bulb, roughly $12 at any auto parts store. It should take 5 minutes to change one bulb.

On the headlight assembly, unfasten the screw at the fender then pull up/out the white clip behind the round amber blinker bulb - pull the headlight assembly forward and out - pull off the rubber cap on the back - turn the bulb so tabs align with slots and pull bulb out of the assembly - undo the wiring harness from the bulb - install new bulb onto wiring harness and repeat the process backwards.

I would recommend buying a pair of bulbs, which honestly isn't that much more than a single bulb, and replacing that bulb in both headlights so one isn't brighter than the other.

Pretty sure it's a weird bolt though, I want to say it's a Torx bit, so you'll need to make sure you have a set of torx.

Also, highly recommended to wear gloves when touching bulbs, at the very least use a napkit. Oils can transfer from hands and create hot spots.
