Weird A/C issue and low coolant sensor issues
Long time, first time
I have an unusual issue with my 2002 SS. The driver's side doesn't seem to be getting cool air but the passenger side is. I've tried moving the temperature selector to full hot and it does get warm air, then moving it back down to full cold but it still doesn't get nearly as cold as the passenger vents do. The A/C could probably use a recharge as its never been done and the car is 7 years old.
Guessing that the flapper door control might be hung up somewhere. Has anyone seen this behavior before? Am I on the right track as far as culprits here?
Also I've got the low coolant level warning on but the radiator and overflow bottle are at proper levels. I've googled the error and it seems to be a common fault with our cars. Has anyone had success in getting GM to pony up for fixing it? Is it also possible that the PCM would be running the A/C on minimalist settings if it thinks the coolant is low?
Thanks!

it does sound like you are on the right track with the flapper door... it's likely stuck.
the low coolant level thing is just the sensor going bad... GM isnt going to pay to fix that on a 7 year old car. the sensor is in the radiator, on the passenger side end cap.

Whats the deal GM? I have a constant low coolant issue on my 2000 monte carlo ss. I have replaced the sensor maybe 3 times now....130K miles. I take great care of car...AM I MISSING SOMETHING?
Oh yeah, the coolant level is fine...engine runs fine (no overheating)...
any advice?

That sucks Russell. Is there an aftermarket sensor by chance?
BTW my car just needed an A/C recharge. For anyone who may find this via google, etc apparently the driver's side gets warmer by design when the refrigerant is low. Guess that is GM's way of saying "add refrigerant dummy."
