Water Leak
The dealer kept my car overnight (dropped it on tues morning @ 11am) they were swamped with service orders. The rep initially told me $50.Apparently the heater draws air from that area. If the seal is messed up, it allows water to dump into the heater intake through the cabin filter. They changed the filter which is why the labor was so much. I did notice a musty smell when i got into the car after it had sat overnight (without the heat or air on) a few days after i first bought the car, about a week ago.Anyway, I thought the sunroof was leaking, thats why i took it to the dealer.Basically i paid way too much for something i could have done myself. The dealer rapes us poor consumers all the time. Ah well, if it starts to leak again in the next 12 months, they willfix it free.I laughed at the service menu: $140 for a coolant flush!? I'll definatenly do that myself.
well i'm guessing they stacked the labor times on ya even though the 2 things are in the same place, it'd be like being charged 10hrs to replace a cracked head, and then 10hrs to replace the head gasket. bastards!

i had the problem with the seal/weatherstrip under the cowl, rather than $50 u can fix it yourself for free.
its reasonably quick and easy, imo. run the wipers and turn off the car with the wipers up, open the hood, remove the 2 or 3 plastic retainers on the passenger side of the cowl, unclip the washer hose from the cowl, and lift the passenger side piece out of the way, find your seal laying out of place, curse gm, then pinch the part of the seal that holds onto the body of the car a portion of the way together with pliers, reattach the seal above the hvac inlet and reassemble

I LOVE THIS FORUM! haha.
My car has done this 2 times to me, only when it rains. it got my work socks completely soaked cause i left them laying on the passenger side. got me so mad!
so, anyone know a part number for the seal? and how hard is it to change the cabin filterand deodorize the vents while i have that piece off? i'd like to replace the seal, change the filter and deoderize the vents cause they are smelling like mildew a little bit. anyone have any tips for me besides the above? what to do and what NOT to do?
if you follow 200ls instructions you will find the seal lying under the cowl and simply put it back on the metal lip where it should be . try a little high tack gasket cement to keep in place and don't forget to change the cabin air filter.
any special way to replace the cabin filter? and how about a detergent for my vents? they need to be cleaned regardless. I have no clue how to do this, but i can follow directions haha.
I am in need of some similar help...I think. I am new to the site so if I sound off base i'm sorry.
Anyway....I have a 2005 LS. The last two times it has rained I have gotten virtually standing water in my passenger side floor, but it only seems to be from the middle of the passenger seat floor to the back passenger floor. When I was driving home in the rain today I could have swore I heard some kind of dripping or something and I reached back and sure enough it was wet again. I have check the sunroof seal and drains and they seem okay. I can't find any spots where the water seems to be coming from the top down, instead just puddles on the passenger side. I don't know if it's a contributing or resutling factor, but I have also been getting a lot of interior condensation on the windows. Any thoughts? I am looking at the same problem? Sounds similar but the fact that the front part of the passanger side appears to be dry threw me a bit.
Thanks in advance for any help.
