Default Ventilation Blower

I've got a 2000 Monte Carlo and my ventilation blower has started to make a really loud and annoying sound everytime it's on. I can't find any instructions online as to how to replace it myself and Autozone was no help.

I removed the panel covering it on the passenger side and can't find a way to get it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated, not even sure if I can do this myself.

brpyne, are you talking about replacing the blower motor that drives the defrost, and hvac vents?

If so, here is the quick guide on how to replace it. I had to do this on mine about 2 months ago. The complete assembly runs about $80-90.

First, you need to know where the blower motor is, its under the glove box. Get ready to do a contortionist act.

To access it, remove the panel below the glove box by squeezing the clips then pull the panel down.

Then use a 7/32 socket to remove the 3 zinc bolts holding the unit in place. These bolts have 1" washers around them. If I recall, there is one on the left side, one on the right side, and one almost behind the blower.

After the blower motor is free, rotate it to access the power plug, and unplug it.

Reinstall is the reverse. Be careful, the bolts break very easily.
