I'm a newbie here, and trying to figure out whats wrong with my girls car. The 2 biggest annoyance's are the clunk in the steering column and the "Sloshing water" sound near the center of the dash. You can only hear the sloshing with the radio off (quiet inside the car), and when your accelerating from a stop.
Secondly, When you make turns or are pulling into a driveway with a bump, a noise or clunk/pop is heard from the steering. I looked underneath, and could feel some slop in the steering column near the steering rack. Can anyone give me some idea what these issues could be?

Oh ya, its a 2003 SS with 70k miles.

 

the noise from the steering is from a light bind in the intermidiate steering shaft, gm makes a lube kit for it. running a search should bring up more on it.

 

The slosh might be a lack of coolant (air bubble)in the heater core. Take off the radiator cap to make sure you are full, verify there is coolant in the resivoir, then finally bleed the line.

To bleed it, you will see a small brass nut on top of the thermostat housing; turn it out a little bit and squeeze the upper radiator hose lightly. Coolant should squirt out, and check for air bubbles there too. You might have to run the car and bleed it a few times to clear it.

 

is that all it is??? because everyone is telling me its my heater core on my car, but then my window does fog up a little when you first turn the car on, which makes it seem like the heater core is bad...i dunno

 

Technically they are right as the problem revolves around the heater core since that is where the air bubble is, but there could be other problems with the core too. My ex-wifes Blazer had the same problem and I did it to her's and works fine. My Blazer did the same thing this morning so I will have to work on it this afternoon.
