Default Transmission Leak

Hey guys, it's good to be here! Here comes my first post...

So, I have a base model '95 MC that has been leaking transmission fluid for quite some time now. My aunt Rachel has been using it and just adding fluid on a very regular basis. Well, the leak has gotten pretty bad and it's been sitting for quite some time now, I got out there today and jacked the thing up and noticed that it is leaking from the drivers side of the tranny from a seal that runs vertically up the transmission.

I did a search for "transmission leak" but only came up with one thread.

If anyone could help out I would greatly appreciate it, thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum first and foremost, secondly what do you want help with? How to fix it, what exactly is leaking, or what should you do? Be patient and some of our members will have an answer for you. )

Hello, thanks for the reply. I kind of forgot about my post, I guess I have email notifications turned off or something...I guess I need as much info as possible, I'm planning on fixing it myself if it's not a massive undertaking. So any help at all would be awesome!

Well I know what gasket you're talking about and I know personally, I wouldn't touch it because I don't have the knowledge that it will take. Some guys are brave and tackle issues like this to learn about their cars, but I don't have the money for a shop to fix what I broke. So it all depends on how comfortable you are wth this...To me, it looks like you have to take the driver's side off of the trans, so pan, axle, etc...So be patient (still) and hopefully someone will comment.
