I have a 1980 Mote, and the factory tires are 195/75-14.

How big can i go before the rubber starts to touch

I want to keep the factory rims.

If your keeping the factory rims, its not how big the wheel well is but how wide your rims are. A 7' wide rim will hold a 9' wide tire, so a 245-60 would be the widest I would personally go on a 7 inch rim but the wheel wells will take much more tire.
