I need to change the Thermostat on my 2007 SS due to overheating. I'm having a hard time just getting started, any help is greatly appreciated.

I take off the exhaust manifold to do it personally. Gives you plenty of access with it out of the way.

It is possible without, but you'll be fighting it the whole time. Ive heard of people using U joints / wobble sockets to get to the tough bolt directly, but none of my tools could manage. Only way I can do it with the manifold on is a bunch of extensions run underneath - not so bad for getting it out, but much harder to line up and get the bolt back in. Hence why I started taking off the exhaust manifold. Its a few more steps, but it's easier work overall.

Thank God you don't have the 3.4l engine. You have to take everything off the drivers side of the engine, under the air stuff.

I've done a few T-stats on 3100/3400 engines. I have done it by pulling the throttle body out of the way and a little work with wrenches. I heard easier if you just pull the exhaust crossover pipe.

Okay well I've got all the bolts out of the manifold on the front but where the two pipes coming together before it makes that turn to go up towards the firewall I don't know how to get those pipes apart I've got the bolts out of them or the one bolt and the nut on the other side but any suggestion on how you get those two pipes apart?

Could you tell me how to separate the two pip s that are bolted together?? I think it's the manifold that bolts to the crossover pipe.
