Default Thermostat?

Does the thermostat housing on a 2002 Monte have a gasket? I am not talking about the gasket on the thermostat itself.

Yes either on the housing itself or the mount? I could just purchase I new one, but I looked on some sites and you can only purchase the housing or the thermostat gasket and not a gasket just for the housing.

I used rtv sealant on mine, aside from the T-stat seal, and no leaks.

Just replaced mine and nope, it didn't have one, how it didn't leak is beyond me, it had NOTHING. We put RTV sealant on it when we replaced it.

3400? Nope. No gasket. Just the gasket ring around the thermostat itself.
I noticed the same thing on the 3100 in my Beretta. 3500s may be the same.
When I replaced my thermostat, I also applied some RTV to the housing "lip".

The new engines don't have a seperate gasket on the housing. They are just a rubber (kinda o-ring) gasket attached to the t-stat.

I went to the parts store to see if I could sort this out and to buy some RTV sealant. I thought why not price out and see what a new T-stat housing looked like. It was only $10 and when I looked in the box to my surprise there was a gasket for the housing. I bought it and will be installing it tomorrow. Cross ur fingers but I think I will use the gasket in combination with the RTV sealant.
