I have an 04 Monte SS with a supercharger & 72844 miles, recently(about the past 2-3 weeks) my supercharger has been making a whining sound, I checked the oil & the level was fine, I just changed the oil about 2000 miles ago also........at first it would only whine for a bit until it warmed up, now it seems to be doing it more often & not really in any pattern.....before I take it in & have it looked at I just wanted to pick some brains & see if anyone could at least give me an idea of what could be going on or at least point me in the right direction so I don't get taken when I bring it in to the dealer.......

 

Supercharges whine because of the rotors that are inside of it meshing together.

Hopefully the coating off your rotors isn't coming off?? Have you done any modifications to the car recently? Such as a new air filter or anything? The fresher and more air could also make a whine

 

No, besides changing the oil in it I haven't done anything....that's why I'm at a loss.....the oil in GM supercharger oil so I don't think that could be an issue.....

 

Did you put in the correct amount of oil? I believe it takes 2 bottles of GM oil

Put on a CAI, or do some mods and drop the pulley size and you'll hear the whine

 

CAI + supercharger + stomping on the accelerator = awesome sound!

 

Mine whines like a baby, lol
