Hello,

Newbie here,
I have a 1998 Monte Carlo Z34. The sunroof is open and will not close. Any help anyone can give on repair or at least how to get it closed will be much appreciated.

Well let me explain more. I took a car from a lady I work with for a test drive. She said she didn't think the sunroof worked but I tried it anyway, it opened with a little noise, now it won't close. I am going to buy the car anyway (98 Z34 Black loaded, 130K for $2000.00) it's in really good shape except the sun roof. I think it may be the switch, just don't know much about them. At least I got it into the garage before it started to rain...
Well if anyone can help I could really use it..

Does it make any noise at all when you hit the switch?

 

Hey thanks for the welcome.
Most of the time no noise. I been out in the garage fooling with it. I got it to move foward, but would not close at the back, (almost got there)
I tried the switch again and it moved back then nothing again, so it's still open.
Man if I could have got it closed, I would have pulled the fuse and left it alone.
I guess that's what I get for being a "dumb A$$" and trying it in the first place.

 

sounds like just a bad switch
you can just jump the power and ground to it and close it till you get a new switch it is to nice of an option not to fix it and have it working
