I had one replaced a week after I bought my 03' no problems since.

that is their favorite anwsner.not a saftey issue.you can drive it untill the wheels fall off.that dam clicking drives me crazy.you spen that much money on a car and they put a defected shaft in.and new about it.keep on putting the same iss in the following year cars.did you look at gm stocks today.that is scary.the goverment/us the tax payers will not let gm or ford fail.

there are a model of shafts that were recalled. from napa or something.
do we have to replace it or can we just fix the clicking problem by lubing it?

same thing i been doing to mine ..i sprayed it last year and this year started again with the clunk and weird feeling after teh spray toke me a year to get teh same noise back........
i also did my dads 2003 impala it was making the same noise and fixed it for a year.......$8 dollar can to fix it for a year?..not bad.ill stick with that

looks like i get to join this club of POS steering shafts. just took my monte to the dealership today because of some clunking in the steering. just as i suspected, it was the intermediate steering shaft. luckily it was still under warranty so it was covered. they said they put a 'better' shaft in that was a better design so we'll see i guess.

man nice monte .i love that color..........if the wife is ok with me getting a paint job next year .that will be the color im after..with2 racing stripes down the middle in silver

thanks manny.laser blue metallic i thinks it is called.i love the color also. i haven't seen many out there so i thought it would be more unique (at least for now, til more ppl buy the 07s haha). i def want the ss stripes also, cept i like them in white

yeah i just had mine greased up. seems a lil better so far. gonna give it one more day to see if all the way gone.

it needs a little more grease but def works!
