Default Steering Column issue

I have a 2007 MC LT that when turning left or right there is some grinding/knuckling like noise from steering column somewhere??, and can't really tell where it's coming from other than when driving straight it doesn't do it. Does anyone know what it may be?

Perhaps the Intermediate Steering Shaft? Sometimes those need a little grease.

If you want to just try that, if you have WD-40 it will take you 5 minutes. Turn the wheel 45° and underneath your column (above the gas pedal) should be a plastic cover. Un-clip the 2 clips and that should fall down, then you will see the ISS, pull back on the black plastic boot and you should see a teal / green / plastic thing and the "knuckle" of the ISS, just shoot that with some WD-40 and then turn your wheel the other direction and shoot it with some more.

If that fixes your "grinding" noise, then that was your problem and you can go out and get a better white lithium grease (I use gun-oil) and put a better greasing on it if it comes back, since WD-40 does go away after a short amount of time.

Thx alot, I will try that. I wouldn't think it's anything major since it's an 07 and only 39000 mi. We'll see, I will let you know results..Jeff
