Hey i just wanna heads up from everyone, if i replace my surfbaord style wing with a pace car spoiler will it be a direct replacement? It looks as though my wing is held on by 4 screws whereas the pace car is held on my only 2?

 

do you have the pace car spoiler or were you just looking to get one??

 

I was looking on EBay for one but I'm scared to order one that "says" pace car spoiler and I end up getting a load crap

 

i was going to buy this one tomorow if itll fit over all the old holes and is a direct replacement

i know that member michael (mamonte) recently replaced his spoiler, not sure which one but he did need to get the trunk partially painted?? i think, here is a pic from MPD with the pace car spoiler!

yeah his is a diff gen, cause i was looking at mine in my driveway today and noticed 4 bolts holding the surfboard wing down, and i really dont wanna do anymore paitn work causei just redid my rear bumper, im hoping someone has swapped wings before and its a direct fit

 

The ONLY pace car spolier that will fit directly in place of the surfboard spoiler is the 06-07 "race inspired" pace car spoiler. The ones on ebay that say 00-07 do not match up even close, you would have to fill holes, and drill new ones. But like I said, the 06-07 pace car spoiler uses the same exact bolt pattern as the surfboard spoiler....Now that said, the factory surf board spoiler is not only bolted on, but it has double stick tape. The surfboard spoiler is about 2 inches wider than the new 06-07 pace car style. When I removed my surfboard style spoiler, there was scars in the pain on the edge, that did not get covered by the new spoiler, plus the double stick crap took up the pain in a few spots. So I had to have the top part of my trunk lid repainted, along with the new spoiler. But it looks AWESOME with the stand up "pace car" spoiler. Just remember DO NOT buy anything that says 00-07 pace car spoiler. It is straight BS, and will not work. The ONLY option you have is the 06-07 stand up spoiler, refered to by Chevy as the "race inspired rear spoiler"

I know other members (here and one 2kMC) have posted when they replaced the surfboard spoiler on their Montes they went with the '06/07 Race Inspired spoiler and it was a direct replacement. This was on the '00-05 Montes.

Sveral sources sell the Race Inspired spoilers on ebay as well as gmpartsdirect has them. But the price is higher versus ebay.
