slight issue with new magnaflow exhaust
Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has purchased and installed the ZZperformance Magnaflow cat-back exhaust for the Grand Prix's on their Monte Carlo's? I guess I thought it would look nice with dual tips on each muffler but the right side (passenger) is touching the bumper. I made sure the hangers were positioned correctly and the pipes are sitting as straight as can be. I also noticed that the intermediate pipe which connects to the resonator has the positioning stud for the hanger sitting towards the front of the car and not the rear to line up with the frames stud. So thats the only one that doesnt have a hanger connected to it. Other than that the clearance for the pipes seems to be okay, there is a slight leak (water dripping) from the clamps connected to the mufflers even though they are extremely tight. Would it be possible to cut the dual tips off and install 3 or 4" tips just for the clearance? The system sounds pretty sweet. It's got a nice deep tone to it and definately more noticeable than the stock setup. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for the support.

You need to clamp it up, but not tighten it, and then actually use a jack and twist the pipes and everything to level it. It took me almost an hour to line up my exhaust the way I wanted it.
Then you tighten them up as tight as your hands can tighten, then you go for a drive to get the pipes warm, then you tighten again.

Hey Chibi, thank you for the info your help is always appreciated. I did infact raise the car about an hour ago and released the clamps and tried to adjust from the intermediate pipe and it seemed better but I didnt have an extra stand which couldve really helped. Its slightly better but it still needs to be readjusted properly. I might take it to a muffler shop to have it done. This has become a PITA to work on. Their probably gonna charge me an hours worth for readjustment. Thank you for your help.

nice pic AwesomeSS. I'm hoping I can take a couple of pics to post here to show you guys if the setup was okay. I did install it myself with a jack and stands so it was quite difficult to get that right adjustment with my back on the garage floor . I did go to an exhaust shop and their flat rate is $80/hr. I decided not to do it and instead built up some confidence to readjust myself. I'm the type of person that really enjoys working on my personal belongings on my own. I'm a determined f***er ahaha. I am looking at the F-1 style body kit for the 00-05 Monte's and it seems like the exhaust cutout is wide enough to fit a dual tip muffler setup. Any feedback on this kit would be awesome. I've seen it on the Tazinator RIP from jarheadbobandmax and its very eye catching. The blurred picture on most of these body kit websites sucks, the rims suck, the car is sky blue with white skirts ... blahhhhh... total barf. And ya, these winters in Canada do suck. God how I hate rust, I'm hoping this stainless steel exhaust doesnt rust up on me.

It don't look like that anymore! The mufflers are still in nice shape but the rest of the system has some surface rust on it.

Heres an image of the left muffler, slightly lower than the right side
Right muffler touching the bumper by a bit
Overall exhaust setup looks alright, dont think I'm gonna play around with it anymore.
What do you guys think?

6th Gen ('00-'05): To Magnaflow (again) or not to Magnaflow (again), That is the question.
