LUS4 Thats all you had your 2 1/2 years I thought it was longer.
Look it all comes down to this if put the hammer down hard all the time
Any vehicle can have problems its all in how you drive and take care of your SS.

Yuppers Mel. I bought it March 12, 2009. (I am a month short, but close enough, right?)

And I agree about driving hard. My car gets driven like I am an old Grandpa 99.9% of the time and it has treated me right.

Question : Should I buy an 06 Monte SS ?

Answer : Yes

Personally I haven't had any issues yet with the transmission or oil consumption. However the mileage is low and its never seen snow if that makes a difference. I'd hate to turn off DOD, your fuel mileage would diminish somewhat.

I love this car but part of me is thinking I should part ways with it before something does happen, no warranty left and its almost 6 years old. Plus I drive a 4cyl Sentra for the winter and that sucks. I'd like to have something I could drive 12 months a year. Not that the monte isn't capable of winter driving but the canadian winters are hard on cars. I used my previous car (03'SS) in the winter and I had rust issues after 3 years, it was terrible.

Anybody have any idea what my car is worth in canadian dollars ??? The condition of the car is like brand new inside and out. Still have original wheels in storage.

Im not sure what the exchange rate is nowadays, but 13,000 for a monte with 90,000 miles seems a bit high...I got mine for 13,500 USD with 42,xxx on it...

Honestly, I love it, But I would lean towards pass. There is very little aftermarket for these cars.

Oil consumption is caused by the DoD...There is actually a recall for it, but its a long process and has to be documented by the dealer...Youre looking at about 1 qt consumed every 4000 miles..Well, thats what it was for me , using Mobil 1 5w-30 synthetic..I tuned it out a few months ago and haven't had the problem since however.

As for the trannies..Well lets not be around the bush..They suck, For this car. They are good trannies, but not bolted up to a 303 HP, 320lb tq V8..More when you start doing mods. I just ran into trouble with mine lately, im at 55,xxx...And at 90,xxx id be worried youre gonna need a new tranny soon lol. Head over to ls1tech.com and check out the LS4 section, and look at the sticked thread with the transmission problems..Youll see 99% of them are the same, and at least 3 quarters of the failures occur before 100,xxx..

Get a GTO. Unless you live in a snowy area like me(buffalo) then I say if you really love it(I love the looks, and its pretty unique) go for it. But understand what you're getting into lol.

How much milage on it now? If you are between 33,000 km - 40 000km and never seen winter I would probably guess somewhere between 14500 - 16300? at most? I could be wrong.

I just hit 40 000 km myself and I would probably list it at 16 000 and see what I get.

Winter comes early in Ottawa. Most put their summer cars away by early Oct. Sucks !
