I live in a Northern state and was told the same 30k is the life expectancy of it. I have found the same to be true when I did a search online looking for info on dexcool, and in all cases it was stated by a spokesperson for Chevy. It really sucks that they said initially that it would last for 150k miles, giving people a false sense of security, resulting in them incurring large repair costs which Chevy is refusing to pay for. Hopefully the class action lawsuit goes through and Chevy is forced to pay up.
I am sure it's again a lack of communication within GM..... You would think that GM would make sure everyone tells the same freaking story for god sake. lol I am sure were going to see additional issues with Dexcool down the road.

ur making me nervous man! I have a flush coming soon, I guess that would be the time to consider the switch, I wonder how much a power flush costs?

I am not sure of the cost, but I will let you know by the end of the week. I spoke to my SW about switching over to the green stuff and he said just make sure you get all the dex out of there as we kinda already found out but our talks, but other than that he said it can and has been done.

hehe, yeah, we pretty much uncovered it all huh? I have flushed radiators before, but according to what we were able to find online, in order to make the switch successfully and w/o headaches, you need to remove like 90-95% of DexCool from the system. I don't have a way to ensure that so I'll leave it to the pro's. Better safe than sorry ya know?

I hear ya, I asked my tech about this and normally they run the flushing system for about 15 min, he's going to let mine run 30 then a manual flush with plain water before putting anything back into the system. I did ask him about the heater core and it sounds as if they simply turn the heater on to allow fluid to run through it.

I am scheduled for a Monday pickup..
