Default Security malfunction

Alright, anyone want a 2003 SS dirt cheap???

I'm getting a little tired of not driving/only repairing this thing...

Now, the "Security" light would sometimes come on while driving, and yesterday the car would not start... just flash "security" three times.
Any sugestions on this one? Is there a way to disable the pass-lock system?

This, along with traction controll issues and bad intake gaskes, and various other "gremlins" has led me to believe that maybe this is not the car for me.... or a car for anyone that would rather drive than repair.

Did you try leaving the key turned to "on" until it quits flashing (ten minutes) then turn key off and start?
When mine does that, that's what I have to do.
Twice now since the last no start the light has decided to come on while I'm driving but has started fine...for now. It wasn't coming on while driving before so it may be fixing to completely quit.

A guy I went to school with works for Saturn (same Passlock, same issues). He does work on the side, used to have his own shop before divorce, long story, ended up selling and working for someone else but plans to have his own place again. Anyway, I've talked to him a little about it and plan to have him see what he can do with it.

No, I didn't wait for it to quit flashing.... from sheer impatience I just jumped in my old truck when it refused to start. The following day it fired right up, and the security light did not come on all day...... go figure.
I would appreciate if you'd let me know what your tech friend has to say about it, and if I happen to take mine to Chevy before, I'll let you know what they diagnose as the problem.
Good luck.

I will, but I'll probably try to wait 'til spring.
When I first talked to him, he said it just needed a new ignition cylinder because the passlock is inside or behind, anyway it's all together. But now that the light has come on twice WHILE driving, there may be something more wrong now. It doesn't have to tell me it's not working correctly, I already know that, LOL.

Could it possibly be something that needs to be reset? I'm not to sure with the newer technology of your year, but in mine random things would flash and all I had to do was hit the brake or accelerator 3 times in under 5 seconds. I found that in the owners manual.

Hopefully last nightwas the last time I had to wait for that damn security light to quit flashing. Called my friend from high school (that works for a Chevy dealer as a mechanic) this morning and told him I want it fixed. He came by this evening and changed out the ignition cylinder/passlock. Keep your fingers crossed that my baby starts every time now. Of course he gave me hell because he'sNOT an Earnhardt fan, LOL. That's ok, I'll forgive him if it's fixed
He said MOST of the time it just needs a new ignition cylinder/passlock. Hope that was it and not the computer.
Last night was the last straw. I got 9 starts out of it before it decided not to start again, it was starting to be a habit.
