Default sad day

Fuel gage not working and transmission stalls a few seconds before going into over drive.

Check your transmission fluid.

The fuel gauge sending unit probably needs to be replaced. Assuming you're in a 2000 or newer Monte, there's a panel behind the backseat you can remove to pull out the fuel pump assembly.
