Default Replacing ****

Hey guys I have a 1987 SS monte put a 350sbc and th350 tranny in this weekend....new flex plate torque converter and all....putting everything back together now my starter doesn't fit in....did anyone encounter this? Also is there any way around buying a new crossmember to accommodate new th35p tranny? Old crossmember nowhere close to supporting

Do you have the starter for the 305 or a 350? Not sure if there is a difference but if there is, that could be the spacing problem. Check this out. It might help. Click-->A Quick Guide to Troubleshooting Common Starter Problems
As far as the crossmember for the tranny, that is not a place where you want to skimp on support so I would probably buy a new one.

When you purchased a new flywheel did you get 168 teeth or 153, 153 is stock for the 87 if you got 168 tooth you would need to replace your starter if I am not mistajen
