Default Rear Defroster (wire lead broke off)

Hello Guys, On my wifes Monte (2001 SS) her rear window defroster broke (the wire lead broke off) She had it "fixed" at a local garage and it came aprart after 2 weeks, I took it back to the local place she had it done so I could raise a lil hell after charging $55 for the repair, but the guy died...... SO... Im not gonna get him to redo it..lol... RIP.... Well, I went to NAPA got the kit for $15 and followed directions to the letter.... I waited 24 hours like it said to plug it back it., As soon as I did... came right off... I have read on the net that it could be soildered back on with a 200 watts soildering iron but Im terrified Ill break or crack the glass. There is some soilder on it now (I think thats the way the local guy tried) but I need some advice before calling the insurance company to replace a rear window...lol.. ANY help would be great. Hope I explained it correctly. IF needed, I can take pictures of it... thanks again...MJ

Sucks big time dude.
My little tab broke off as well and i also bought one of those defroster repair kits as a member Mike (chibi) recommended and well it didn't stay on long.
Good luck with yours, i will try again though with those repair kits before i go to the full extent of having to replace the whole window for something that looks like can be fix for a small amount heheh.
I dont have a clue about soldering, so someone else will have to guide you on the part.
later, good luck.

Lawson Products used to make a damn good repair kit for rear defrosters, but not sure if they're available anymore.
