Default Radio / Audio Warning issues

I have a 2001 Monte LS that has been trouble free for 100,000 miles, but now it seems the electric system is falling apart. Door locks and window switches needed replacing, now the radio has stopped sending to the speakers intermitantly, this includes the door chime and other audio warnings. It appears the radio itself is functioning by the display on the screen.
I have checked as many connections that I can find, but there does not appear to be any thing obvious. Cold orhot temperatures do not seem to have any affect, (ie.. bad connection).
Any advice as what to check would be appreciated. The dealer wants it dropped off and cannot give a price to identify the problem.

Thanks,

Paul

Default RE: Radio / Audio Warning issues

Check the little amp in the trunk at the top. I have a 01 and it went a while back - the dealership here was NO help as they said it was the radio and it was not. I paid 25.00 at a boneyard and have had no problem since, it's been about 3 years now. It sounds like that may be the problem.

My radio first started going in and out and then I had nothing.Hope it helps
